In partnership with Smugglers’ Notch Resort, the Professional Disc Golf Association (PDGA) is delighted to announce L.L.Bean, the acclaimed outdoor brand, as the presenting sponsor of the 2023 PDGA World Championships. The event is scheduled from August 30 to September 3, 2023, at the esteemed Smugglers’ Notch Resort in Jeffersonville, Vermont.

With L.L.Bean’s sponsorship, this year’s championship is set to offer an unprecedented prize pool. The minimum purse of $275,000 marks the highest amount in the history of the Professional World Championship events. While this is $75,000 more than last year’s purse, it falls short of the 2022 DGPT Championship purse of $302,000.

L.L.Bean’s Director of Brand and Performance Media, Chuck Gannon, expressed excitement for the partnership, highlighting how the spirit of disc golf mirrors the company’s commitment to fostering outdoor experiences and community. Jeff Spring, Tournament Director of the PDGA Professional World Championships, echoed Gannon’s sentiments, lauding L.L.Bean’s substantial contribution to the sport and the potential this partnership has to elevate the championships. The mutual appreciation for outdoor recreation between the disc golf community and L.L.Bean, encapsulated by L.L.Bean’s ‘Be an Outsider’ mantra, was also underscored by Assistant Tournament Director Sean Jack.

The successful partnership with L.L.Bean continues a relationship that Spring and Jack have fostered over the years through their leadership roles at the DGPT. The experience and successful collaborations from their DGPT roles have set the stage for the upcoming PDGA Pro World Championships. PDGA Executive Director Joe Chargalauf also acknowledged the significance of L.L.Bean’s endorsement, emphasizing the importance of external support from established brands in the outdoor recreation industry.

L.L.Bean’s iconic Bootmobile is set to appear at the event as a part of their support. Spectator tickets and weekend passes remain available for those who wish to witness this historic event in disc golf. Besides the championship, attendees can enjoy the Fall Fest at Smugglers’ Notch and watch the crowning of the next World Champions. The tournament will be broadcast live on the Disc Golf Network, with next-day lead card post-produced coverage available on the JomezPro YouTube channel.
